On September 8, 2011, the Saskatchewan government passed an Order in Council adopting a Private Sewage Works Regulation. This new regulation takes the place of The Plumbing and Drainage Regulation with regards to private sewage systems in the province. The regulation comes into effect on October 1, 2011. Any permits for systems that were issued for private sewage systems prior to October 1, 2011 will fall under the previous regulation.
