The Saskatchewan Ministry of Health requires that contractors working in the onsite wastewater (private sewage) industry be ‘qualified’ to perform the work required under the Private Sewage Works Regulation and the Saskatchewan Onsite Wastewater Disposal Guide.

Effective November 1, 2026, a contractor designing onsite wastewater systems must hold certification as an Onsite Wastewater Practitioner and be registered with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health.
