Despite severe storm warnings, the clouds parted on June 22 and allowed the mound installation in Lloydminster to take place without a hitch. The association led training in mound installation on a site provided by Robert Aultman of Bob’s Backhoe service. A site and soils field day had been held on the same site in May.

The homeowner was on hand to observe participants scarifying the basal area, applying the washed sand and geogrid, building the pressure distribution system, installing the infiltration chambers, applying berm material and cover and getting the mound ready for seeding to grass.

Field days are planned as sites are made available to the association. If you have a site for a field day, contact SOWMA and we will work with you to host a training event. Prairie North Health Region’s inspector was on hand to observe and approve the system ready for commissioning. All-in-all this session provided a very valuable learning opportunity for all involved.
