Insurance is one of those things we forget about until we need it, kind of like a spare tire. This is why National Insurance Awareness Day exists and is celebrated every year on June 28. While the origin of this day is a mystery, what’s widely known is how important insurance is in many aspects of our lives. From car insurance, to life insurance, to home insurance and more, these policies offer a layer of protection to guard us from feeling the harshest of blows by unfortunate events.
Contractors in the onsite wastewater industry require special insurances to protect them when and if, thing don’t go the way they should. If you are providing plans or designs to a client, you require Errors and Omissions Insurance to protect you in case something in the design or report you provide your client turns out to be incorrect or flawed in some way. General business insurance does not cover this eventuality.
If you are installing systems, you should have Pollution Liability, in the event that the system you install negatively impacts a water course or water source. Again, general business or construction insurance does not cover this type of liability.
Make sure you have a detailed discussion with your insurance provider to be confident that you hold the appropriate insurances for your scope of work.
WCOWMA and its provincial partner associations have partnered with several organizations to offer discounted insurance to you and your company.
